Certified Musical Instrument Appraiser
As a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers, Rebecca is now a Qualified Musical Instrument Appraiser.
In February 2007 the Internal Revenue Service has put a restriction for amounts claimed for donated items (including musical instruments) or settlements of Estates. A report from a "Qualified Appraiser" must be presented to the IRS. Insurance companies are now following suit. According to the IRS a "Qualified Appraiser" is one who has been working in this field of valuation, has formal education in appraisal studies and belongs to a recognized appraisal organization.
We are recommending for your own personal instruments that you make sure you are covered under insurance policies. Most insurance policies have a limit of $2,000 on Musical Instruments unless it is a "scheduled item" or has a "Rider". The $2,000 limit will leave most musicians very vulnerable in losing their valuable instruments in case of fire or theft. The additional cost in insurance is minor to what you can lose

"The Godmother of Guitars", Rebecca, was featured center stage
at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium for her demonstration of her restoration work. The event was part of The Vintage Guitar show. Many people came by including Recording
Artist, Jackson Brown, to see Rebecca's handy work. Here are two of the guitars that were featured. Vintage Rickenbacker left-handed fretless model (three on bottom right) that she has just started and a rare 1963 Pre-CBS Fender Precision Bass (bottom left).

Rebecca and 18 month grandson, Renin Apodaca Johnson, were
presented with custom made Skimboards by Victoria Skimboards of Laguna Beach, (creators of the skimboard) in appreciation for their 15 years of providing a sound system that is used for The Victoria Skimboard International Competition www.vicskim.com

Rebecca and A & D Music were inducted into the Heritage Registry of Who's Who in America. A copy will be kept in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Who's Who had to create a category for A & D Music as well as one for Musical Instrument Repair Technicians due to Rebecca's contributions in the Music Industry.

A & D Music was presented with a Milestone Achievement Award by NAMM's President, Joe Lamond, in honor of our 25th Anniversary at the Winter NAMM Show.

Vintage Guitar Show - $10 Entrance fee
This show will convene at the Orange County Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa, in Building 12, 10am to 5pm. Enter on Arlington. Rebecca will have a booth demonstrating restoration of vintage instruments. She will have a few rare instruments for sale. Bring your instrument in to have her evaluate it for repair or appraisal. Leave it with her and you will be amazed with the work. Restoration work can not only preserve your instrument but can double and triple your investment. Consumers are encouraged to bring all the gear they can carry to sell or trade at no extra charge, as the top buyers in the world will be at these shows. |
